Nuestra historia/Our History

Nueva Epoca's program was created as a pilot project during the pandemic to address the underrepresentation of the Latiné community in decision-making for business and civic affairs in Sacramento. The pilot was successful in placing over 70 Latiné leaders in positions of responsibility. Now, Nueva Epoca is developing a 2.0 program in collaboration with a world-class university to expand its soft skills teaching to include hard skills training. The program aims to build capacity within the Latiné community for leaders to successfully lead during this period of significant change.

The Program

The Nueva Epoca Leadership Program is a social justice initiative designed to promote participation of the Latiné community in decision-making for business and civic affairs in our communities. The program aims to prepare the next generation of leaders by offering opportunities such as education and training to advance in leadership positions in important employer organizations and businesses in our communities. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to participate in boards and commissions within the state, and encourages the development of entrepreneurship opportunities in the communities where Latinas and Latinos live and work.

Moving Forward

At present, the program is working with alumni, prospective new students, employer groups, and entrepreneurs to jointly design the 2.0 Program for effectiveness and efficiency. The ultimate goal is to build capacity within the Latiné community for leaders who can successfully lead during significant change.
